Meet Tim Daniels
Timothy Daniels is a native of Brunswick County. Tim grew up in the county’s southern communities, where early positive interactions with local law enforcement set the tone for a life of public service. As a middle-schooler in the Shallotte Police Department’s Explorers program, he learned the basics of policing, joined ride-alongs, and taught peers what he was learning—earning the nickname “Scanner” after hustling odd jobs to buy his first police scanner. He always knew he wanted to serve in uniform, and his mentors convinced him that wearing the uniform of a State Trooper and undertaking the responsibilities that come with itwas the honor of a lifetime.

Daniels served as a Student Patrol Officer while attending NC State University, then joined the North Carolina State Highway Patrol in 1999. Over the next 26+ years, he rose through the ranks with assignments on the roads and in leadership, including sergeant, lieutenant, and later captain/Troop commander.
​
Rooted in Brunswick County, Daniels' commitment to kids and schools shows up in board-level volunteer work with Communities In Schools of Brunswick County and regular school engagements.
